A doula does:

  • Provide evidence-based information 

  • Offer non-medical pain reliefs

  • Help the partner.s to get involved if wanted

  • Create a birth plan based on the pregnant parent's wishes

  • Encourage the birthing person during labour

  • Guide the parent if they wish to nurse their baby

A doula does not:

  • Administer medicines

  • Examine the pregnant person internally

  • Manipulate Doppler nor take blood pressure

  • Make decisions for the parent or the family

  • Replace the partner.s

  • Push their own secret agenda and desires on the family

When we as a society begin to value mothers as the givers and supporters of life, then we will see social change in ways that matter.
